Setting up an Xfce desktop with Void Linux
I recently discovered Void Linux, an independent Linux distro (i.e. not based on anything else) that is designed to have the minimum possible included by default, without sacrificing features.

Fun in Ubuntu Land
So I decided to play with the newly released Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr", and having installed it alongside my trusty CrunchBang, I proceeded to tweak that universally loved and adored (or insert other adjectives of your choice) Unity desktop a bit. It's changed a little bit since I last saw it in 12.04...

Fingerprint scanner
Recently, someone gave me their old laptop - a Dell XPS M1330 - which is much better than my old Packard Bell Easynote! This new one has a comparatively massive 2GB RAM (the old one had just 471MB) and a Core 2 Duo processor (quite a step up from a Celeron M). It also has a fingerprint scanner...
